Notary public at FS Notarios in Alicante (Spain). Graduated in Law from the University of CEU San Pablo- Madrid 1986- 1991 and doctoral studies in private international law at the University of Alicante.
María was appointed notary in 1999. After working two years in the north of Spain (Lugo, Galicia), she was a notary for two years in a town in the province of Valencia and in 2003 she was a notary in Jijona for several years. She currently works as a notary in Alicante.
In Spain it is not common for notaries to specialize in a specific subject, but María’s personal preference is international family law. Maria speaks and reads Dutch, English and French well. She learned Dutch from her Dutch husband, Erik de Haan, who has run a consulting firm in Spain since 2005 (www.kompasconsulting.es), specializing in the settlement of inheritances of Dutch people with assets in Spain.
At the beginning of her career, she worked for two months in a Dutch notary and gained a lot of knowledge about Dutch legislation in various areas and the way of working in Dutch notaries and the Dutch Land Registry.
In 2000 she became a member of the “Commission on European Affairs” (CAE); an international committee of the International Association of Latin Notaries (UINL), of which she continues to be a part, now as the main delegate of Spain. She is also part of the ‘young notaries’ working group and since 2006 she is the Spanish delegate in the ‘Task Force’ working group, which tries to build a bridge between the United Kingdom and the Latin notary profession. (common law versus civil law). Since 2011 she has been part of the ‘European Real Estate Law’ working group, which operates under the motto of the CNUE.
In 2012 she was at the base of the Eufides project. Eufides is the notarial platform for international digital traffic, which has been activated by the CNUE to be able to carry out international transfers and other deeds digitally and securely in the future. The first Eufides pilot was a house exchange between two Dutch people with one house in Spain and another in Holland. This deed was signed at her notary on March 15, 2012.
Since 2014, María has been registered as a mediator at the Notarial College of Valencia.
